Transfers to/from Khao Lak

There are many different ways to reach Khaolak. You could fly from Bangkok to either Phuket or Surat Thani and then transfer here by public bus or private minibus/limousine. You could catch the train from Bangkok to the South and transfer in the same way from Surat Thani. Similarily, you could travel from Hatyai to the North to get off at either Phuket or Surat Thani.
Should you arrive by public bus from Hatyai or Krabi, get off before reaching the bridge to Phuket at Kok Kloi, where you can change to a bus from Phuket to Surat Thani (via Takuapa) to get off at Khaolak. Travelling in Thailand is safe, fun and easy and getting here will be part of your vaction and not a chore.

When you have ordered private transportation in advance, you have to walk through the doors to the outside of the airport arrival hall or the trainstation, where you will see the guides and representatives of the hotels waiting with their signs. Please look out for a sign, that is showing your names. Should you arrive directly from abroad, take the opportunity to change money at the airport, where several bank offices have counters in the arrival hall. Kindly contact the guide before and inform him/her, that you need some more time to change money. Otherwise he/she will start to look around for you and you might miss him/her.

Detail Maps Kho Khao Island

Khao Lak is located about 50 kilometres north of Koh Phuket Island on the mainland in Phang Nga province. Most of its sandy beaches stretch from the Khaolak-Lumru National Park in the South for about 20 kilometres northwards, starting with Sunset Beach, Nang Tong Beach, Bangniang Beach, Khuk Khak Beach, Pak Wib Beach and Bangsak Beach in the very North. Close by, in Baan Naam Kem Village, is the small ferry port to Koh Kho Khao Island, which is the northern end of the Khao Lak region. Koh Kho Khao Island lies off the coast of Takuapa to the North of Khaolak. Koh Kor Kao Island's western coast has endless beaches lined by Casuarina trees while the interior is covered by grassland. Several wild animals dwell Kho Koh Khao Island, and sea turtles use to lay their eggs in its sands, between November and February. Koh Kor Kao Island is already well developed, boasting surfaced roads and a car ferry to cross the few hundred metres wide canal, which separates Ko Koh Khao Island from the mainland. An extensive flat grassland area close to the northern tip was used as an airfield by the Japanese during World War II and influential people are already talking about an airport on Kho Khor Khao Island.
